IWF Committee Meetings in Kazan

The IWF Committees held their meeting prior to the Junior World Championships in Kazan, RUS. Their first meeting started with a joint meeting for matters of common interest.

As the IWF Medical Committee held its extraordinary meeting in Lausanne, SUI on 27 March 2014, the IWF Technical and Coaching and Research Committees sat together in Kazan.

Technical Committee

The Technical Committee discussed questions on technical and educational matters, notably a standardization of the Weightlifting equipment and refresher courses for Technical Officials. Promotion of more women officials was also discussed along with the criteria for Technical Officials’ appointment to IWF Events.

The Technical Committee stressed the importance of National, Regional and Continental Federations to strictly abide by the IWF Technical and Competition Rules & Regulation especially in view of the age limit rule for competition.

Coaching and Research Committee

The new CRC Committee endorsed the 3 IWF Coaching categories to match the IWF TC referee categories and produce appropriate coaching material to match the criteria.

Discussion on the IWF age limit for International competition was discussed and there was unanimous support from the CRC for the current 13 age limit. However NF could and can make their own limits for domestic competition but on their responsibility.
