New World Records on the first day of the Youth and Junior AWC

The 2011 Youth and Junior Asian Weightlifting Championships started today in Pattaya, Thailand at the Pattaya Indoor Atheletic Stadium on Soi Chaiyapruk 2. Approximately 476 lifters representing 38 countries throughout Asia participate in the competition.

The IWF President Dr. Tamás Aján attended the meetings of the Asian Weightlifting Federation’s Commissions held before the competitions to start and was pleased to honor the Opening Ceremony of the Championshipsby his presence.

On the first competition day in Pattaya, in the 50 kg bodyweight category the 16 year old Thai lifter Sinphet Kruaithong established new Youth World Records in the Snatch, Clean & Jerk and in the Total. In the 56 kg bodyweight category, Thach Kim Tuan (VIE) set new Youth World Records in the Snatch with 127 kg and in the Total with 277 kg.The AWC promises stunning performances within the Junior and Youth lifters.
