To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Weightlifting Club of Trondheim, the Norwegian Federation staged a large Championships. Trondheim is Norway’s 3rd largest city and the public interest in the Anniversary event was high. Alongside the local nobilities, the President of the Norwegian Federation Mr. Per Mattingsdal, IWF Auditor and former President of NWF Mr. Tryggve Duun, many “oldtimer” competitors and officials were present. Altogether 117 capable weightlifters in three age groups competed in the commemorative Norwegian Championships and Cup. The Championships were run by a capable Organising Committee, and many enthusiastic volunteers under the baton of Mr. Duun, in cooperation with the IWF technical staff that assisted with the first application of the IWF National Competition Technology System freshly purchased by the NWF.
“The Championships were a real success. Probably the best ever! – The competition system worked very vell, and was an important reason for the success. – We are very satisfied, and the help of Robert (Nagy) and Csaba (Airizer) was extremely good. They made it possible to set up the IWF System and run the competition without any failure.” – commented Mr. Tryggve Duun
