London 2012 tickets

There is a total of seven and a half million tickets to be sold for the Olympics and Paralympics. The total revenue needed to be raised is £441 million. If five million tickets are sold at £50 each, raising £250 million, that leaves the remaining 2.5 million tickets needing to raise £190 million – that’s £76 each on average.

But organisers have promised some ticket prices will be set lower, at around £20. The more likely scenario is that tickets to all of the athletics’ finals, the ceremonies and high-demand small venues like the velodrome, weightlifting and aquatics centre will be priced at the upper end. (telegraph)
