Bangladesh weightlifting team for 11th SA Games announced

Talking to newsmen, General Secretary of Bangladesh Weightlifting Federation Wing Commander (retd) Mohiuddin Ahmed expressed his firm determination to display a good show in the meet, saying “our lifters have improved a lot and their standard are almost near the standards of Indian and Pakistani lifters.”

He added: “We hope, this time we will achieve a better result than the previous SA Games in Colombo, where we won just one silver medal and five bronzes.”

The federation official was very much optimistic about experienced campaigner Akramul Huq and Hamidul Islam who have shown a lot of improvement during the yearlong training.

Akramul Huq has been lifting 105 Kgs in snatch and 128 Kgs in clean & jerk compared to his previous best 100 Kgs and 113 Kgs, while Hamidul currently lifts 145 Kgs in the snatch and 152 Kgs in clean & jerk, as against his previous best of 117 Kgs and 120 Kgs.
