First-ever blood testing: all samples returned negative

The IWF is on the way of further tightening its already very severe anti-doping program and policy. In addition to the “regular” IWF-procedure of anti-doping controls (urine samples) involving more than 30% of the participating athletes, for the first time in history, the IWF took blood samples as well at the 2009 Goyang World Championships held in Korea, 20-29 November.
The blood samples were analysed in the WADA-accredited Seoul Laboratory and all of them proved negative.
The results of the urine samples’ analysis are still forthcoming from the WADA-accredited Cologne Laboratory.
