Dika Toua: Sportswoman of the Year
On Saturday 23rd May, at the Annual Sports Awards held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, champion weightlifter Dika Toua won for the sixth consecutive year the Sportswoman of the Year award. The Gala Event at the Crown Plaza was attended by 500 VIP guests from Government, Corporate Sponsors, and Sporting Organizations.
Dika Toua, many times Oceania Champion, Commonwealth Games silver medalist in the 53kg category and three times Olympian was emotional when she accepted her award. She said “I dedicate this to my husband and family who supported me and encouraged me to continue when I had to leave my child who was only two months old to train for the Olympics. Also thanks to my coach Paul Coffa, who unfortunately is not here.”
The event was organized by the PNG Sports Federation/National Olympic Committee.
