Men’s 77 kg: A man who stopped Chinese

Sa Jaeh-youk of Korea ended China’s six-for-six winning streak in after claiming a stunning gold medal.After snatch Li Hongli (CHN) led the field by 3 kg advantage ahead of Davtyan (ARM) and by 5 kg ahead of Sa (KOR). The clean and jerk had a totally differnt scenario. L i was not able to step over 200 kg border as 23 years old Korean opened jerking with 201 kg. He needed 203 kg to be on the leading position. By his total of 366 kg his total was the same what Li achieved but Sa had the lighter body weight and this 45 dkg resulted him unexpected gold medal. Davtyan (ARM) had only one successful attempt in snatch and in clean and jerk and arrived on the third place on the podium with 6 kg difference to the leaders.

Defending champion Taner Sağır (TUR), who was heavily favored in this weight class, bombed-out in the snatch.”In the first snatch attempt I lost the bar behind me and injured my arm.The next was effected by this injury and the third became a nightmare.I feel sorry to the Turkish people.” Hasan Akkus, president of Turkish Weigtlifting Federation: “He is a very nice sportsman. His arm could have easily broken after enduring such a bad injury, but he still persisted and competed so bravely for his country.”

2004 bronze winner Oleg Perepetchenov (RUS), who holds the clean and jerk world record, also failed to make the podium after a disappointing fifth place finish.
