Weightlifting mourns Dr. Sonny Tobing

Dr. Sonny Lumban Tobing (Indonesia) passed away at the age of 62 years on 4 July 2007 in Jakarta, having suffered a stroke. The untimely and unexpected end took away a man everybody used to like: a quiet, always smiling, devoted, generous and gentle person. Dr. Tobing served the sport of weightlifting for decades; i.a. as Member of the IWF Medical Committee 1994-2000, doctor on duty in Olympic Games, World and Asian Championships, etc. He was also a first-class international referee, jury member and technical controller. Just recently, as the leader of the Indonesian delegation in Prague, he rejoiced over the long-awaited Junior World Champion title of his fledgling.

You left a great void in our hearts: Dr. Sonny Tobing, Rest in Peace!
