Olympic barbells chosen for Beijing 2008
Exercising its right as per the IWF By-Laws, the IWF Executive Board has designated the barbells that will be used in the weightlifting competitions of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
In the selection process, the following factors were carefully and extensively taken into consideration:
– The Guidelines and Regulations of the IOC concerning the selection of sport equipment for the Olympic Games
– the position and the interests of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Organising Committee
– the possibilities and the very interests of the IWF and its members
Thus the following two manufacturers have been chosen for the Games:
ZKC – Zhangkong Barbell China – for the men’s events
DHS – Double Happiness China – for the women’s events
Both barbells are IWF-approved and have been used and acknowledged in World and Continental events.
