News Flash on the 2005 World Championships Doha, Qatar

– Competition days: 9-17 November

– IWF Annual Congress: 8 November

– Committees’ meetings: to be appointed till 15
(provisional dates: 6 November – TC, MC, SRC
7 November – Executive Board meeting
or the meetings
will be held during the
World Championships)
The final dates
of the meetings will be adjusted to the East Asian Games (Macao) to
terminate on 6 November

– Special IWF Centennial Gala Program offered by
Qatar Weightlifting
Federation (QWF) and attended by all
participants: 16 November, in the evening

– QWF President, Mr. Al-Mana will personally take
care of VIP guests
including invitations and special

– Accommodation for competitors and team officials
will be provided in
4-star hotels – double room: USD 90.00,
single room: USD 130.00

– Competition venue: two competition halls are
available (inside and outside of Doha city) – IWF would prefer the
hall situated in
downtown of Doha to bring as many spectators as
possible to the event

– Visa: visas will be provided gratis and free
entries are guaranteed by Qatar authorities

– Prize moneys offered by QWF for valid total
results in 15 bodyweight categories :
1st place: USD 3000
place: USD 2000
3rd place: USD 1000

for Junior World Record in total: USD 5000
Senior World Record in total: USD 10.000

– IWF and QWF will offer free full board for 30
competitors to be selected from the countries being active in
weightlifting but not being able to attend the Championships due to
financial difficulties

– The event will be transmitted on the Internet

– IWF TIS is to be used

– QWF offers a silver commemorative coin to each

as possible.
